Villegas 698 (esquina Cnel. Perez)  - San Martín de los Andes

Villa Pehuenia

This town lies on the coast of Aluminé Lake and it holds a monkey puzzle or Araucaria forest ("pehuén" in the mapuche tongue). It is located 250km from our city, and during the journey we also visit Aluminé town, travelling along the river of the same name almost 100km of our trip.

With our van we get to the top of the crater of Batea Mahuida Volcano, almost 2000 m. over sea level, to enjoy the wonderful and amazing scenery and we also go hiking until the lagoon that is on the top. When we go down, we arrive to the Angostura, a short river that joins Aluminé and Moquehue lakes.

Once in Villa Pehuenia, we visit the bays, harbours and peninsulas, finding unique landscapes. This small town was founded at the beginning of the’90s and visitors get astonished by the way the houses are built, in a total harmonious balance with the wild forest scenery , especially among the pure forest of Araucarias.
